Kneeling In Prayer: Old Fashion? – In our age we are attracted to worship the idol called Convenience. Christian life is somehow invaded by its presence: you can watch a sermon at home instead of going to church, you can donate online instead of finding somebody in need to help him etc. Prayer is influenced by the same trend. Deep inside our relation with our Lord is not the one which it should be and as a result we don’t feel any need to bow down in prayer.
I’ve always heard to kneel,Christ was always kneeling when He prayed.
Amen. May the Lord continue to whisper in our ears and may our ears be willing to hear and listen…
Greetings!
Some quick questions:
1) Do we have to close our eyes while praying kneeling down?
2) Can we clasp our hands like the standard praying emoji style (like those from Buddhism and Hinduism) or does it have to be the closed fist style?
Shalom!
Some quick answers would be:
1.yes, it is good to close the eyes while we pray. it will help us to focus in the prayer and not be distracted by anything around. about this point you can read a letter written by Ellen White to a church from Barbados ( they had 2 problems: they prayed with open eyes and required people to get their shoes off before entering the worship place)
2.not sure if we can be very rigid on this, but probably it is better to have the fingers closed, fist style.
may the Lord give us wisdom to follow Him on the narrow path!
